Update: Sina and a group of talented singers and musicians created a Dune themed video with an original, "Until We Burn."
Sina Doering
The first musician/artist I was going to feature was a German drummer named Sina Doering (born 6 May 1999) but another artist had an EP release so I switched the order.
I am not even sure how I found out about Sina, but WOW! She posted her first cover on YouTube when she was 14 and it's amazing how many different groups she has covered and kept as close to their own drummer's style. I believe she started drumming when she was 9 or 10. I think I saw where she has more than 450 videos now (including covers, originals, collaborations and instructional videos). She may have even done some work with a couple of her favorite professional drummers. BUT THERE'S MORE. She was drummer for a band called The Gas (I don't know how to get the proper accent marks on this) and was also touring with Rock the Opera. The more I searched around to find out more about her the more impressed I became. Sina got to play on the same stage as Joe Lynn Turner of Deep Purple and Rainbow at Rock the Opera in 2022.
She has a few original pieces. Even better are all the collaborations she has done with artists from all over the world. Many of these collaborations are featured on her own products, a series of CDs under the Chi Might brand which boast a variety of genres and music styles. And it's not just about the singer. This was something else that impressed me about Sina. She commented on how a lot of today's music was more about singers, many who don't even have a band but use background tracks and looping. She believes a lot of today's music fans don't get much exposure to music with actual guitar players, drummers and other musicians. This led to renewal of another interesting project. A series of children's lullabies - with a twist. They are set to a variety of music styles and feature a myriad of musicians and artists. (I think this may have been inspired by her father and English musician friends who "recorded traditional Nursery Rhymes with a proper Band in a Rock, Pop or Folk feel". They did the same with German Nursery Rhymes and this time Sina was booked as a background singer when she was 9 or 10). Here's a sample of the nursery rhymes - Three Blind Mice.
Her mother sings and plays piano but I don't know if she is featured in any of Sina's videos. Her dad plays guitar and her younger sister plays ... cowbell. And occasionally the drums. Sina not only plays the drums and related percussion instruments she also sings, plays keyboard and I've even seen her with a guitar or bass. While she performs a lot of styles she seems to favor classic rock. Check out Sina as a one woman band here.
I am not sure who does the camera and production work on her videos or if they shoot from different angles and splice them together later but the videos feature insets of her footwork along with her overall playing. It's not just a static shot of her sitting there playing the drums. I know there are some videos that are clearly put together in post production because she's featured on multiple instruments in a split screen format. One Bon Jovi cover even has her playing drums in an open field.

A few of my favorite videos?
"Come Together" with Lotus Cole. Sina sings, plays drums and bass or guitar and check out the cool outfit she is wearing reminiscent of the Beatles.
If you want to see her with the Queen of Cowbell, her sister Milena, look for "Don't Fear the Reaper" and "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet."
I am not sure how they met or if it was a collaboration they did through the magic of the Internet but another artist I discovered was Jaydn Rylee from Canada. Jaydn will be one of the next artists I feature in a future blog post.
Be sure to check out Sina's website. She has drum tutorials, information about her Chi Might projects, a list of people she collaborated with on these projects as well as some mini bios on how they worked together. I think I read somewhere that there were 37 different artists and musicians featured on the original Chi Might project. I don't think you will be disappointed.
She's apparently a big Back to the Future fan so check out this compilation where she plays a variety of different percussion instruments as a tribute with help from others on brass and string instruments. Pretty awesome.
There's not enough time to write about all her videos. There's just too many. But it's so much fun to watch her perform and find new (or new to me) material. Sina certainly has a deep love of music and it shows.
Here's a few more links:

From YouTube video of Sina practicing for her first cover video released when she was 14, a cover of Van Halen's "Jump."
Sina introduced herself in this video when she was 14. Since then she has done hundreds of covers, collaborations and many originals.
Sina gives a tour of her new recording studio relocated to a boat, or barge. Pretty cool place to work and collaborate.
Check out this YouTube video of Sina teaching the basics of drumming.
One of many nursery rhymes Sina collaborated on with her dad and others to bring new appreciation for music, especially music created with real instruments.
