Madison Taylor Baez
During a commercial break on America's Got Talent, 11-year-old Madison Taylor Baez is handed a microphone. She blows the audience away and catches Simon Cowell's attention. This leads to an onstage audition and earning Howie Mandel's golden buzzer to get her through to the competition. Her father is invited on stage with Howie and host Terry Crews to help celebrate.
I found Madison like I do many of the people I post about on my music blog. I was listening to songs on YouTube and the AGT discovery of this powerful young singer popped up. I later learned she was there to audition but they picked her from the audience. On a commercial break she got up and belted out Amazing Grace like she was a 180 pound opera singer.
Simon Cowell was either leaving for a break or on his way back and he said himself, “Who the hell is that?” He came out and found the tiny Latina girl, 11, from California and couldn't believe his eyes. He gave her the chance to audition on stage then and there. And she got the golden buzzer from Howie. Long story short she made it to the top three (should have been in top two or the winner in my opinion).
Maddie performs Steve Winwood’s Higher Love during the AGT competition, making it her own. She made it to the top 3 in season 17.
Maddie has made a name for herself by singing the National Anthem at major league professional sporting events and for charities. She is even affectionately known as "the Anthem girl." In this video she is 9, singing at a televised UCLA Women's basketball game.
But Maddie wasn't a complete stranger. Many people knew her as the Anthem Girl because she had received so many opportunities to sing at professional sports events since age 8 including the LA Dodgers, LA Rams, LA Lakers, LA Kings, LA Galaxy, Harlem Globetrotters and high profile charity events. She is now affectionally known as America's #1 "Anthem Girl"...
Young Selena leads to acting
Maddie auditioned for and was cast as young Selena when she was 9 for the Netflix series “Selena: the Series”. At age 12 she was cast for a series on vampires, “Let the Right One In”.
Along with features in over 65 publications such as People Magazine, Entertainment News, Variety, Oprah, Harpers Bazaar, TV Guide calling her a Powerhouse on the rise. !E News and Hola Magazine named Madison to their top ten list of Rising Latinx Stars under 25 gearing up to take over Hollywood. She also performed “Ain't No Sunshine” on Game of Talents when she was 10. She has also acted in many television commercials.

I believe she started singing when she was 3 but when her father was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer she really focused on her singing, singing to him at his hospital bedside. The Lord's hand was on him, and maybe her singing helped with his healing because he is still with us today (unless something recently changed).
This talented young lady is now 13. She plays five music instruments and I hope she is writing her own songs or working with someone who can help her. Her voice needs to be shared with the world. I couldn't find many songs she has covered but the best one might be her rendition of Steve Winwood’s “Higher Love” performed at AGT.
I haven't found much about her recently. A few days ago, I reached out to see if she would do an interview but haven't heard yet. She's most likely still a very busy young lady.

Maddie plays guitar, one of six instruments she taught herself to play. A cute story I read somewhere tells of how her parents gave her a toy piano. They would hear her banging on the keys until one day they heard real music. She graduated to a real piano they purchased for her.

Maddie performs at Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk. Skechers has given Maddie a large variety of shoes as an influencer.
The only album I've seen for Maddie so far. I sure hope we get some original music from her someday because she has a powerful voice that needs to be shared. In this video she sings "What Christmas Means to Me."
