While listening to YouTube videos I stumbled across this talented young lady performing The Beatles' "Ob La Di, Ob La Da" - on bass, piano and drums.

A one girl band, Ellen focuses primarily on bass

Born to Armenian parents in Los Angeles, California, Ellen Alaverdyan now lives in Las Vegas, Nevada with her family. Ellen inherited musical and artistic ability from her parents. Hovak, her father is a musician who helped Ellen begin playing instruments. Her mother, Marine, isn't a musician but is a makeup artist and a costume designer. Her grandfather is a renowned singer in Armenia and her two aunts are also vocalists.

After watching someone play bass on TV, which she mistook as a guitar, Ellen chose to play bass. Though her father taught her the basics of playing bass, Ellen taught herself advanced skills using YouTube and Yousician. Ellen mostly learns songs on her own, though her father helps her master some songs.

Though a huge fan of The Beatles, Ellen believes inspiration can be found everywhere: “Anything you discover can inspire you and make you want to play.” She enjoys playing a variety of genres. She even has videos on YouTube performing bass lines from a variety of artists’ songs.

Ellen has performed with renowned guitarist Steve Vai, appeared on Steve Harvey’s show, and played at a Golden State Warriors game.
